Known as the Hornet, the F/A-18E is a versatile fighting machine.
Running ground attack missions, defending other aircraft and bringing back essential reconnaissance at supersonic speeds.
The Jolly Roger nickname is given to the whole United States Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 103, because of their intimidating skull-and-crossbones on the jets tailfins.
Originally designed by McDonnell Douglas, it’s capable of speeds up to 1,190mph at 40,000 ft. Deployed in both Iraq and Afghanistan this jet has seen extensive action, moving around the world on US Navy Aircraft Carriers.
